Worcester "Fisherman" pattern Coffee Cup c.1775-80
Please scroll down the page for more pictures.
Decorated in the well documented "Fisherman & Cormorant" pattern, this very nice Worcester example is in excellent condition. The pattern was also produced at Liverpool, Caughley, & Isleworth, each being slightly different in design.
With a simple "U" shaped cross section & a looped handle, it is typical of Worcester coffee cups of the period. The fishing line in the Worcester example is "wiggly," whereas it is angular & straight in the Caughley & Liverpool examples.
The cup is marked to the underside with the Worcester "disguised numeral" mark.
This is a nice example of a Worcester "Fisherman" Coffee Cup, in excellent condition. It would be a nice addition to any collection of 18th Century English porcelain. |
