This delightful little coffee cup is in a desirable bell shape, & is decorated with polychrome enamels.
The decoration is in a Continental style rather than a Chinese inspired design.

Philip Christian had been a partner with Richard Chaffers, producing porcelain from c.1755. In 1765 Chaffers visited another partner, Robert Podmore (a defector from Worcester), who was "on his death bed." Unfortunately, whilst Podmore made a full recovery, Chaffers contracted the disease, which eventually proved fatal. Philip Christian took over the factory with Chaffers widow, so although Chaffers & Christians are listed as 2 seperate factories, they are different, at least in the beginning, by name alone. The factory, workmen, materials, moulds, etc remained the same.

Handpainted with sprays of European flowers over the glaze, it has a typical Liverpool inner border, & a simple handle, & is slightly smaller than other examples from the same period.

The cup is in excellent condition, with no damage or restoration whatsoever.

There is a small flower painted in the bottom of the cup.
As with most Liverpool, it is unmarked, but does retain an old collectors label.
