A Bow Blanc de Chine plate with applied prunus decoration c.1750-55. A typical design from the very early years of the factories output (founded c.1745), although cups, teabowls & saucers are far more common than tablewares.

Items in this design are devoid of any added decoration, the whiteness of the porcelain & the applied prunus decoration are left untouched so that the porcelain itself can be admired. This is a direct copy of a Chinese custom.
The underside is typically Bow, note also the small sliver & associated hairline from the rim.
Blanc de Chine porcelain is not unique to Bow, it was also produced by other English factories such as Chelsea,

Bow Blanc de Chine plates are less common than cups, saucers, & other wares, making this piece from the earliest years of the factory a nice addition to any collection of Early English Porcelain. In good condition, its only fault is a short hairline & a small chip to the reverse. |
