Bow Desirable Residence cup c.1755-60

A nice example of an early Bow coffee cup painted in underglaze blue in the "Desirable Residence" Pattern. Unmarked.

Condition is good with only a couple of tight hairlines.

Measures 2 1/4 inches high.

Sometimes known as the "Telegraph Pole" pattern because of the curious trees, this was a popular pattern for Bow.

 

The telegraph pole like trees can be seen more clearly above, to the left of the pagoda.
As is common there is in places some running of the blue into the glaze.

There are 2 feint, tight hairlines from the rim as can be seen above & below.

The cup is unmarked as is usual for early Bow.

Overall this is a very attractive example of an early Bow blue & white cup
which would compliment any collection of early English Porcelain.
